GRIDLOCK / POWERPOINT

PERSONAL EXPLORATION

Information is beautiful

For years I’ve felt something is missing from Powerpoint, and company decks often appear disparate both from each other as well as slide by slide. Something I’ve been working on in my spare time is a universal grid system for mapping out content across the screen and across applications.

OPPORTUNITY

Mapping content across a grid helps to keep everything in an organised format improving legibility, however it also affords an opportunity of seamlessly integrating content from other applications with relative ease.

RESULTS

The guides sit in the master so appear on every slide and I’ve numbered them off screen to aid in positioning content. The grid is transferable across applications, so for instance to map content onto the screen of a mobile in hand, scale the mobile screen to fit within the number of squares. Content snaps to the guidelines automatically in Powerpoint speeding up the work, and as it’s a grid system you can scale the device smaller without any loss of functionality. It’s a Jpg with transparent Png overlay combo.
