To liven up the workspace at Hotels.com, the design team’s desk decorating competition varied from Star Wars through to Toy Story, while my entry was an arcade themed around super heroes.
As a team building exercise this activity would inspire teamwork and collaboration across the department, while showcasing many abilities that sit outside of everyone’s personal career remit.
The display was rotated 90° for longer screen real estate and the arcade with surrounding environment was made from foam board, printed stock, polypropylene and a little wood. Family portraits as superheroes were added to the brick walls, Superman’s cape was draped across the wooden “floor” and the arcade console wiring and lighting courtesy of the now eBay Director, Pete Dainty and his spare motorbike parts.
